Key duties and responsibilities:
Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently according to job plans and site instructions.
Perform pre- and post-shift equipment inspections; report defects and perform basic maintenance (fluid checks, greasing, filter changes).
Read and follow blueprints, grade stakes, and site plans to achieve correct elevation/line/grade.
Load/unload trucks, place and compact fill, dig trenches, backfill, and perform finishing/grading.
Signal and coordinate with ground crew and spotters; follow flagging and traffic-control procedures.
Secure equipment and materials at end of shift and maintain clean work areas.
Maintain accurate equipment logs and report incidents or near-misses.
