Driller

Core Duties:

Operating equipment – Runs the drilling rig, driller’s console, draw works, rotary table/top drive, and pumps to bore and advance the well, monitoring drilling progress and adjusting drilling speed as needed. 
Crew supervision – Manages two to three crews of rig workers, enforcing safety and efficiency and ensuring all workers follow company and legal regulations. 
Safety enforcement – Ensures workers carry out safety rules — checking things like catline rope condition and tong snub lines — and knows how to stop the draw works in an emergency. 
Equipment inspection & maintenance – Inspects drilling tools and equipment before and after operations to ensure efficiency and optimal performance, and maintains operational control over the condition of surface and underground drilling equipment, tools, and blowout equipment.
