Structural Engineer

Core Responsibilities:

Design structures — calculate loads (dead loads, live loads, wind, seismic, snow) and design structural elements (beams, columns, foundations, trusses, slabs) to safely support them
Analyze existing structures — assess buildings/bridges for safety, renovation feasibility, damage after disasters, or capacity for added loads
Select materials — determine appropriate use of steel, concrete, timber, masonry, or composite materials based on structural and budget requirements
Produce drawings and specifications — create detailed structural plans, often using CAD/BIM software, for construction teams
Ensure code compliance — verify designs meet local building codes, safety regulations, and international standards (e.g., IBC, Eurocode)
