Inspect and select rigging equipment (slings, chains, hoists, shackles, wire ropes) based on load weight, shape, and lifting plan
Calculate load weights, center of gravity, and safe working loads (SWL) to prevent overloading
Attach and secure loads to cranes, derricks, or hoists for lifting, moving, or lowering
Read blueprints, load charts, and lifting plans to determine the correct rigging method
Signal or communicate with crane operators (hand signals or radio) during lifts
Erect and dismantle scaffolding, cranes, derricks, or temporary structures
Perform routine inspection and maintenance of rigging gear, replacing worn or damaged equipment.
