Core responsibilities:
Assess patients: review medical history, perform physical evaluations, measure strength, mobility, balance, pain, and functional ability.
Develop treatment plans: create individualized programs to restore movement, reduce pain, and improve quality of life.
Provide therapy: use therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, stretching/mobility work, massage-like techniques, and education on safe movement.
Use physical modalities (depending on facility and license): e.g., heat/cold therapy, ultrasound, TENS/e-stim, traction, and other approved tools.
Rehabilitate after injury/illness: help patients recover from orthopedic injuries, surgeries, strokes, neurological conditions, sports injuries, etc.
Train patients and caregivers: teach home exercise programs, correct posture/body mechanics, and safe transfer techniques.
