Security Officer

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Patrolling premises (on foot or by vehicle) to detect and deter unauthorized activity, security breaches, hazards, or suspicious behavior.
Controlling access — screening visitors/employees, checking IDs/passes, issuing badges, managing deliveries, and authorizing entry/exit.
Monitoring surveillance systems — watching CCTV/alarms, investigating alerts, and checking for irregularities.
Responding to emergencies and incidents — handling alarms, disturbances, medical emergencies (basic first aid/CPR), fires, evacuations, conflicts, or trespassers; contacting emergency services (police, fire, ambulance) when needed; and de-escalating situations.
Enforcing rules and regulations of the property or employer, issuing warnings, or detaining violators according to legal protocols until authorities arrive.
