Key Responsibilities:
Hotel Manager (also called Lodging Manager or, at larger properties, Hotel General Manager) oversees the overall operations of a hotel, motel, resort, or similar lodging facility. The role focuses on ensuring smooth daily operations, high guest satisfaction, staff leadership, financial performance, and compliance with standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Hotel managers typically handle a broad range of duties across operations, people, finance, and guest experience:
Daily operations — Coordinate and supervise all departments (front office/reception, housekeeping, food & beverage, maintenance/engineering, sales, and sometimes events/conferences). Conduct property walkthroughs for cleanliness, maintenance, and brand standards.
Staff management — Recruit, hire, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate employees and department heads. Handle performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and staff development. Manage high turnover common in hospitality.
Guest experience — Ensure excellent service, resolve escalated complaints, handle special requests, and protect the hotel’s online reputation and guest satisfaction scores.
