Read blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine specifications and dimensions
Lay out work using string lines, levels, and plumb bobs to ensure straight, level courses
Mix mortar or concrete to the right consistency
Lay bricks, blocks, stones, or other masonry units in the correct pattern (bond) and spacing
Cut and shape materials using trowels, hammers, saws, and grinders
Build corners, arches, chimneys, walls, fireplaces, walkways, and other structures
Apply mortar, then align and level units using levels, plumb lines, and rulers
Install and repair veneer, tuckpointing, and waterproof or damp-proof courses.
