Core Responsibilities
Dispensing prescription medications accurately, checking for correct dosage, drug interactions, and contraindications
Verifying prescriptions from doctors and other prescribers for accuracy and legitimacy
Counseling patients on how to take medications safely, potential side effects, and interactions with other drugs, food, or alcohol
Reviewing patients’ medication histories to catch harmful drug combinations
Administering vaccinations and other injections (in many countries/states)
Overseeing pharmacy technicians and support staff
Managing inventory — ordering, storing, and tracking controlled and non-controlled substances.
