Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Examine patients’ teeth, gums, and mouth using tools, X-rays, and other diagnostic methods.
Diagnose dental problems such as cavities, gum disease, infections, or misalignment.
Perform treatments including fillings, extractions, root canals, crowns, bridges, veneers, and teeth whitening.
Clean teeth and remove plaque/tartar (often with the help of hygienists).
Provide preventive care and educate patients on brushing, flossing, diet, and oral hygiene.
Administer local anesthetics and prescribe medications (e.g., antibiotics or pain relief).
Design and fit dental appliances (dentures, braces, retainers) or refer patients to specialists (orthodontists, oral surgeons, periodontists, etc.).
