Typical responsibilities
Consult with clients about symptoms, medical history, and goals before each session
Choose and apply appropriate techniques (Swedish, deep tissue, sports massage, trigger point, myofascial release, hot stone, prenatal, etc.)
Assess soft-tissue condition and adjust pressure/technique accordingly
Maintain treatment records and track client progress
Recommend stretches, self-care, or follow-up sessions
Keep the treatment space, linens, and equipment clean and sanitized
Refer clients to physicians or other specialists when a condition is outside scope of practice.
