Rigger

Core Responsibilities:

Reading load charts and lift plans — determining the weight, center of gravity, and safe lifting capacity for a load
Selecting and inspecting equipment — choosing appropriate slings, shackles, chains, wire rope, hooks, and rigging hardware based on load requirements
Rigging loads — attaching and securing loads to cranes or hoisting equipment using proper knots, hitches, and hardware
Directing crane operators — using hand signals or radio communication to guide crane movements during lifts
Setting up rigging systems — erecting scaffolding, block and tackle systems, gin poles, or other temporary lifting structures.
