Core Responsibilities:
Design structural elements: foundations, beams, columns, slabs, trusses, and connections
Select appropriate materials (steel, concrete, timber, composites) based on cost, strength, and durability
Produce structural drawings, calculations, and specifications
Ensure designs comply with local building codes and safety standards (e.g., IBC, Eurocode, ASCE 7)
Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, and contractors throughout a project
Conduct site inspections and evaluate existing structures (renovations, retrofits, damage assessments)
Oversee construction to confirm designs are implemented correctly.
