Core responsibilities:
Install, align, assemble and commission mechanical equipment (motors, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, compressors, presses, etc.).
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance: routine inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and replacements to avoid downtime.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures using hand tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
Repair and overhaul components (bearings, shafts, couplings, seals, valves) and perform basic machining and fabrication as needed.
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and manuals; follow work orders.
Required skills & competencies:
Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and parts manuals.
Proficiency with hand and power tools, torque tools, hoisting/rigging equipment, precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, laser alignment).
Knowledge of bearings, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, belting, chains, and seals.
Basic welding, brazing, or fabrication skills often required.
Strong safety awareness and ability to follow lockout/tagout and confined-space protocols.
Good communication and teamwork; ability to work under pressure during breakdowns.
