Key duties & responsibilities:
Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections; document findings and report defects immediately.
Rig loads safely and inspect slings, hooks, shackles, and other rigging hardware.
Use hand signals, radios, or other communication methods to coordinate with signal persons and ground crew.
Monitor crane performance; adjust for wind, load swing, and site hazards; stop lifts if unsafe.
Maintain crane logbook and complete required safety/inspection paperwork.
Follow site-specific safety procedures, permit requirements, and applicable regulations.
Assist with routine crane maintenance and minor troubleshooting; escalate major repairs to mechanics.
Required qualifications & skills: High school diploma or equivalent, Strong situational awareness and spatial judgement.
Ability to read blueprints, lifting plans, and weight measurements.
Good communication and teamwork with riggers and site personnel.
Commitment to safety culture and adherence to procedures.
Basic mechanical knowledge for daily checks and minor adjustments.
Ability to work at heights and in variable weather conditions.
