Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare patients and treatment rooms; ensure patient comfort.
Sterilize and organize instruments and equipment; follow infection-control protocols.
Assist the dentist during procedures (e.g., fillings, crowns, extractions) by handing instruments, using suction, and keeping the mouth dry/visible (“four-handed dentistry”).
Take and process dental X-rays/radiographs (where permitted by state law).
Take patient medical/dental histories and vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, pulse).
Instruct patients on oral hygiene, post-procedure care, and nutrition.
Required qualification & skills
High school Diploma or equivalent, attention to detail, manual dexterity, strong communication and interpersonal skills (especially for anxious patients), organizational ability, knowledge of dental terminology/instruments/infection control, and comfort with technology.
