Typical responsibilities:
Read blueprints and technical diagrams to plan wiring layouts
Install wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, and other components
Inspect electrical components (transformers, wiring) for defects
Test electrical systems using tools like multimeters, ohmmeters, and voltage testers
Identify and repair electrical problems (faults, breakdowns)
Follow national/local building and safety codes
Maintain and update residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems
Direct and train apprentices or helpers.
