Core Responsibilities

Reading lift plans and load charts to determine the safest method of moving equipment or materials
Selecting and inspecting rigging gear — slings, shackles, chains, wire rope, hoists, spreader bars — for wear, damage, and load capacity
Calculating load weights, center of gravity, and angles to ensure lifts are within equipment limits
Attaching loads to cranes or hoists and directing crane operators using hand signals or radio communication
Setting up rigging systems for hoisting, moving, or securing heavy machinery, steel beams, precast concrete, or other bulky items.
