Primary duties & responsibilities
Fit, clamp, and tack components, then perform final welds to required size and tolerance.
Perform or assist with layout, measuring, and marking of parts prior to welding.
Inspect welds visually and with basic nondestructive methods (e.g., dye penetrant, magnetic particle) and document results.
Remove slag, clean welds, and prepare finished surfaces (grinding, sanding, polishing).
Follow welding procedures and quality standards (WPS/PQR) and keep accurate production/inspection records.
Maintain welding equipment and consumables; report equipment faults.
