Chairside / Clinical Support
Prepare the operatory (set up instruments, materials, PPE).
Assist the dentist during procedures (passing instruments, suctioning, retraction).
Take dental radiographs (X-rays) per clinic protocol and state requirements.
Record patient info and update medical/dental history.
Help with impressions, temporary materials, and basic dental procedures (varies by state).
Sterilization & Infection Control
Sterilize, disinfect, and organize instruments.
Maintain infection control standards (PPE, barriers, instrument tracking).
Ensure compliance with OSHA and clinic sterilization guidelines.
Patient Support
Greet patients, seat them, and explain basic steps (as allowed).
Assist with patient comfort (basic chairside support).
Provide pre- and post-appointment instructions as directed by the dentist.
