Typical duties & responsibilities:
Periodontal treatment: scaling, root planing, maintenance.
Extractions and minor oral surgery (or refer).
Prosthodontics: partial/full dentures, occlusal adjustments.
Administer local anesthesia; manage dental emergencies and pain.
Prescribe medications (antibiotics, analgesics).
Perform or oversee infection control, sterilization, and recordkeeping in compliance with regulations.
Educate patients on home care, prevention, and lifestyle risk factors.
Manage or coordinate with dental hygienists, assistants, lab technicians, and office staff.
Maintain electronic health records and billing/insurance documentation.
Key skills & Education:
DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) or DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) , Clinical knowledge of oral anatomy, pathology, materials, and procedures.
Fine motor skills and hand–eye coordination.
Diagnostic reasoning and treatment planning.
Communication and patient education / empathy.
Infection control and safety practices.
