Drilling Engineer

Design, plan and supervise drilling operations to safely and efficiently drill wells that meet production, cost and schedule targets.
Interface with geology, reservoir, production, HSE, and operations teams to optimize well design and execution.

Key responsibilities:

Develop well designs: trajectories, casing and cementing programs, bit and bottomhole assembly (BHA) selection, mud programs.
Prepare drilling programs, well cost estimates and drilling schedules.
Select equipment and vendors; prepare bid packages and evaluate rig/vessel capability.
Monitor drilling operations (real time where available), provide technical support to rig crews, and resolve operational issues.
Perform risk assessments, HAZID/HAZOP and implement mitigation measures.
Analyze drilling performance data (ROP, torque/drag, BHA behavior) and recommend improvements.
Ensure compliance with HSE standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.
Manage well cost and non-productive time (NPT); produce post-well reports and lessons learned.

Requirement & qualification includes:

High school Diploma or equivalent, Well design and casing seat calculations; torque & drag, hydraulics, well control basics.
Software familiarity: drilling engineering suites
Competence with LWD/MWD and directional drilling principles.
Well control and pressure management; ability to interpret mud logs, PVT data, and formation evaluation logs.
