Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Perform age-appropriate physical exams, take vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, breathing, oxygen saturation), document medical history and symptoms, and watch for changes or deterioration, calculate and administer weight-based doses of medications, vaccines, injections, IV fluids, or blood products; draw blood; and manage pain or anxiety with both pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods also develop and implement individualized care plans; assist with diagnostic tests; care for children with acute illnesses, injuries, chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes), or in critical/terminal situations; evaluate for signs of abuse.
Required Skills and Education
Associate Degree in Nursing, clinical knowledge of pediatric growth, development, and weight-based dosing.
Strong communication, patience, empathy, and the ability to calm and engage frightened children (using play, stories, or age-appropriate explanations).
Attention to detail, critical thinking for rapid changes in a child’s condition, and the ability to handle parental anxiety.
