Core responsibilities
Taking vital signs (heart rate, temperature, blood pressure) and adjusting technique for small/uncooperative patients
Administering medications and vaccines, with careful weight-based dosing calculations
Starting IVs and drawing blood — often trickier in small veins
Monitoring growth and developmental milestones
Educating parents/caregivers on home care, medication schedules, and symptoms to watch for
Comforting frightened or distressed children and helping them cooperate with procedures.
