Core duties & responsibilities
Use modalities where appropriate: ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat/ice, traction (within scope of practice).
Prescribe home-exercise programs and teach self-management strategies.
Monitor progress and modify plans; perform outcome measurement (e.g., WOMAC, Oswestry, TUG).
Document assessments, plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, billing codes.
Communicate and coordinate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, case managers, and families.
Provide discharge planning, referrals, and injury prevention/ergonomic advice.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with legal/regulatory standards.
Skills & Education:
Entry level: Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy (BPT) or Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) ,
Clinical: assessment, differential diagnosis, manual therapy, exercise prescription, therapeutic modalities.
Professional: clinical reasoning, outcome measurement, documentation, knowledge of anatomy/physiology.
Soft skills: communication, empathy, patient education, teamwork, time management, adaptability.
Physical demands: ability to lift/move patients, stand for long periods, perform manual techniques.
