Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations (interviews, medical/social histories, observations, physical exams, and psychological testing).
Diagnose conditions using criteria such as those in the DSM-5 (e.g., depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, neurocognitive disorders).
Develop individualized treatment plans that often combine medication, psychotherapy (talk therapy), and other interventions.
Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications (antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, stimulants, anti-anxiety drugs), monitoring effectiveness and side effects.
Provide or oversee psychotherapy (e.g., CBT, supportive counseling, psychodynamic therapy) individually, with couples/families, or in groups.
Perform or refer for interventional treatments when appropriate.
