Core responsibilities / duties
Safely operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, skid steers, cranes, compactors, and dump trucks.
Read and interpret site plans, grades, stake locations, and specifications; follow instructions from foremen or engineers.
Perform pre- and post-shift inspections (fluids, tracks/tires, lights, controls, safety devices) and report defects; perform basic adjustments and preventative maintenance.
Load/unload materials and position equipment for excavation, grading, trenching, demolition, and paving tasks.
Coordinate with spotters, ground crew, and other operators to ensure safe movements and avoid conflicts.
Maintain clear communication (radios, hand signals) and comply with traffic/flagging requirements on site.
