Key Responsibilities and Duties
Calculating loads and stresses (dead, live, wind, seismic, snow, etc.) using engineering principles, codes (such as ASCE 7, IBC), and mathematical modeling.
Designing structural systems and members in materials such as steel, concrete, timber, masonry, or composites.
Creating detailed drawings, specifications, calculations, and digital models (often with CAD, BIM software like Revit, or analysis tools such as SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD, or RISA).
Selecting appropriate materials based on strength, durability, cost, sustainability, and project requirements.
Ensuring designs meet local/national building codes, safety regulations, and standards.
