Crane Operator

Core responsibilities / duties

Operate assigned crane(s) (e.g., mobile/boom, tower, crawler, overhead) for loading, unloading and placement of materials.
Read and interpret lift plans, rigging diagrams, load charts, and blueprints to determine load weights and center-of-gravity.
Select, inspect, and secure appropriate rigging and lifting accessories; work with riggers to attach/detach loads.
Use load charts and follow rated capacities; derate or stop lifts when site conditions or crane configuration require.
Communicate with signal person(s) using standard hand signals or radio/voice commands.
Perform pre-start and daily inspections of cranes (booms, hooks, lines, controls, safety devices) and report defects; tag out faulty equipment.
