Operating the crane — tower cranes, mobile cranes, overhead/gantry cranes, or crawler cranes, depending on the setting
Inspecting equipment before and after each shift (cables, brakes, hydraulics, hooks, outriggers)
Reading load charts to determine safe lifting capacities based on boom angle, radius, and weight
Coordinating with signal persons/riggers using hand signals or radio communication
Positioning loads precisely, often in tight or high-risk environments
Maintaining logs of inspections, maintenance, and lift activities
Following safety protocols to prevent tip-overs, dropped loads, or collisions.
