Primary duties & responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and material specifications.
Set up and operate welding equipment (MIG/GMAW, TIG/GTAW, SMAW/Stick, FCAW, oxy‑fuel) and associated tools.
Prepare workpieces: cut, bevel, grind, clean, and position parts for welding and fit‑up.
Perform welding to required procedures, codes, and quality standards (e.g., structural, ASME, API where applicable).
Inspect welds visually and with basic NDT (dye penetrant, magnetic particle) or coordinate with inspectors for radiographic/ultrasonic testing.
Grind and finish welds to required tolerances and surface quality.
Maintain welding equipment and consumables; track usage.
