Primary Responsibilities
Operate the drilling console/controls (drawworks, rotary table, pumps, etc.) to control drilling speed, weight on bit, pressure, and other parameters.
Supervise the rig crew (floorhands/roughnecks, derrickhand, etc.) and ensure safe, efficient operations.
Set up, position, and stabilize the drilling rig; assemble/disassemble drill strings and bits.
Monitor gauges, drilling fluid (mud) properties, pressure, and well conditions; respond to issues such as kicks or equipment problems.
Maintain accurate records (IADC tour sheets, footage drilled, BHA details, strata encountered).
Perform or oversee equipment inspections, routine maintenance, and basic repairs.
Enforce strict safety protocols, conduct toolbox talks, and handle well control situations.
