Psychiatrist

Core responsibilities:

Evaluate patients through interviews, psychological tests, and lab/medical exams to rule out physical causes of symptoms
Diagnose conditions like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, and substance use disorders
Prescribe and manage medications (antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, etc.)
Provide or coordinate psychotherapy (talk therapy)
Develop and adjust treatment plans over time
Monitor for side effects and drug interactions
Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, and primary care doctors.
