Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Drive, maneuver, and control equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, graders, scrapers, loaders, backhoes, compactors/rollers, and sometimes cranes or pile drivers.
Excavate trenches, clear and grade land, load materials into trucks, compact soil/base materials, and prepare sites to precise elevations and specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, grading plans, cut-fill diagrams, and survey stakes (including use of GPS grade control systems and laser levels).
Perform pre- and post-shift inspections (fluids, tracks/undercarriage, safety devices, bucket teeth, etc.), basic maintenance, lubrication, cleaning, and report mechanical issues.
Coordinate with ground crews, surveyors, grade checkers, and other operators using hand signals, radios, or other communication.
