Key responsibilities:
Operate excavators of various sizes (mini, midi, heavy) to dig, lift, grade, load trucks, backfill, and place materials.
Read and follow site plans, grade stakes, construction drawings, and instructions from foremen or engineers.
Perform daily pre-start and post-shift equipment inspections; report defects and arrange for repairs.
Perform basic preventative maintenance (cleaning, grease points, fluid checks) and help mechanics as needed.
Position and operate attachments (buckets, hydraulic breakers, augers, thumbs) safely and correctly.
Work with spotters, signalers, and other operators to maneuver safely in congested or high-risk areas.
Maintain accurate equipment logs (hours, fuel, maintenance).
