Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Verify order accuracy by checking contents against packing lists, invoices, manifests, or computer records.
Pick, pack, seal, label, and prepare items for shipment using appropriate materials (fillers, padding, straps) to prevent damage.
Generate shipping documents such as bills of lading, packing slips, shipping labels, and (for international shipments) commercial invoices or certificates of origin.
Weigh packages, calculate shipping costs/postage, and select the most suitable or cost-effective carrier/method (parcel, LTL, truckload, etc.).
Schedule carrier pickups and coordinate loading/dock activities.
