Key Responsibilities:
Design well programs, including trajectory (vertical, directional, horizontal, or extended-reach), casing schemes, bottom-hole assemblies (BHA), drilling fluids (mud), and cementing plans.
Analyze geological and offset well data to select techniques, equipment, and parameters that minimize risks (e.g., wellbore instability, kicks, stuck pipe).
Monitor real-time operations, track progress against plans, manage non-productive time (NPT), and adjust for issues like torque/drag, vibrations, or hole cleaning.
Oversee costs (prepare AFEs/budgets, track expenditures) and contractor performance.
Ensure well control, HSE (health, safety, environment) compliance, and barrier integrity.
