Key Responsibilities
Rig operation: Setting up, operating, and maintaining drilling equipment and machinery
Drilling process management: Controlling drill speed, pressure, and depth; monitoring drilling parameters
Pipe/casing handling: Adding, removing, and connecting drill pipes, casings, and drill bits
Safety compliance: Following strict safety protocols, wearing PPE, conducting pre-shift equipment checks
Crew supervision: Often leading a small crew (derrickhands, rig hands, roughnecks/roustabouts)
Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and fixing mechanical issues, handling equipment malfunctions.
