Plumber

Installs, repairs, and maintains water, drainage, gas, and heating systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Work covers pipefitting, fixtures (sinks, toilets, water heaters), gas lines, backflow prevention, and troubleshooting leaks/blockages.

Core responsibilities:

Read blueprints/plumbing plans and lay out piping systems.
Install and connect pipes, valves, fittings, fixtures, appliances (water heaters, boilers, dishwashers).
Diagnose and repair leaks, clogs, pressure issues, and malfunctioning fixtures/appliances.
Test systems for leaks and compliance with codes (pressure tests, gas leak checks).
Cut, thread, solder, and join pipe materials (PVC, copper, PEX, galvanized, cast iron).
Install and maintain water heaters, pumps, septic systems, and backflow prevention devices.

Required skills:

Technical: pipefitting, soldering, brazing, threading, use of plumbing-specific tools and diagnostic equipment.
Knowledge of local plumbing and building codes and permit processes.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills (e.g., pressure testing, camera inspection).
Physical stamina and comfort with confined spaces, ladders, and lifting 50+ lbs.
