Plumber

Core duties and responsibilities:

Locate and repair leaks, clogs, and other malfunctions using hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment.
Test plumbing systems for leaks and proper operation; inspect and ensure compliance with local plumbing/building codes.
Cut, assemble and thread pipes using tools and machines.
Perform preventative maintenance and advise clients on system care.
Estimate job costs, prepare quotes, order materials, and keep job-site records.
Coordinate with contractors, electricians, and inspectors.

Required technical skills and knowledge:

Pipe types and joining methods (soldering, welding, threading, compression, solvent welding).
Water heaters, boilers, pumps, backflow preventers, and gas appliances.
Reading blueprints and plumbing schematics; basic math for measurements and slopes.
Use of common plumbing tools: pipe wrenches, plungers, augers/snakes, camera inspection tools, multimeter, pipe cutters, torch.
Knowledge of local building/plumbing codes and inspection processes.
