Janitor

Job summary:  Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to keep buildings, facilities, and grounds clean, safe, and sanitary. Follow schedules and safety procedures to maintain appearance and functionality of restrooms, offices, hallways, common areas, and sometimes exterior grounds.

Empty trash/recycling and dispose of waste according to policy.
Dust and wipe furniture, fixtures, walls, windowsills, and glass.
Clean windows, interior glass, and mirrors.
Maintain cleaning equipment (e.g., buffers, vacuums) and report malfunctions.
Perform basic floor care: buffing, stripping, and waxing as required.

Required skills and attributes:  Ability to follow instructions, routines, and safety procedures.
Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment use.
Attention to detail and reliability.
Physical stamina: standing, bending, lifting (often 25–50 lbs), climbing, reaching.
Good time management and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
