Structural Engineer

Key responsibilities:

Select appropriate materials (concrete, steel, timber, masonry, composites) and specify reinforcement/connection details.
Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, and local permitting requirements.
Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, contractors and owners to integrate structural solutions into the overall project.
Prepare design reports, load summaries, calculations, and construction submittals.
Provide construction-phase support: respond to RFI’s, review shop drawings, perform site visits and inspections, and oversee remedial design as necessary.
Perform structural assessments, retrofits, and failure investigations for existing structures.

Required education & skills

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred for advanced roles or specialized work)

Structural analysis and design (linear/nonlinear, static/dynamic, seismic design principles).
Strong grasp of mechanics of materials, structural systems, and load path concepts.
Proficiency in engineering software: e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, RISA, SAFE, Tekla, Revit Structure, AutoCAD, or equivalents.
Familiar with finite element analysis (FEA) tools for advanced analysis when required.
Familiarity with codes and standards: ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, Eurocode, BS, IS codes, or applicable local standards.
