Key responsibilities / duties
Lay bricks, blocks, and stone in patterns, ensuring level, plumb, and square work.
Cut, shape, and trim masonry units using hand and power tools.
Install reinforcement, anchors, and flashings as required.
Point, repoint, and repair joints; restore damaged masonry.
Apply waterproofing, sealants, and finishes.
Clean and finish completed surfaces.
Inspect own work and correct defects to meet quality and code standards.
Collaborate with foremen, contractors, and other trades on-site.
Required skills and competencies: Proficient in mortar mixing and masonry techniques (bonding, coursing, tuckpointing).
Solid blueprint and layout-reading skills.
Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Knowledge of building codes, safety practices, and masonry materials.
Ability to use masonry hand and power tools (trowel, jointer, block saw, grinder, levels).
Physical stamina and strength; good balance and working at heights proficiency.
