Rigger

Plan, assemble and secure rigging systems (slings, chains, cables, shackles, spreader bars, hoists, block-and-tackle) to lift, move, and position loads safely.
Inspect rigging gear and lifting equipment for wear/damage and perform or report maintenance.
Calculate load weights, center of gravity, sling angles, and required gear capacity; choose appropriate hardware and rigging configurations.
Signal/communicate with crane operators and equipment operators (hand signals, radio) and coordinate lifts.
Install and remove temporary support structures, fall-protection anchors, and guy lines.

Skills & competencies

Familiarity with rigging hardware and crane/hoist operation basics.
Physical strength, balance, and good spatial awareness.
Ability to read technical drawings, lift plans, and rigging diagrams.
Good communication and teamwork; ability to give/receive clear signals.
Attention to safety, hazard recognition, and permit/lift-plan compliance.
