Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, potential drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications.
Dispense the correct medications in the proper amounts and forms.
Counsel patients on how to take medications, possible side effects, storage, and lifestyle advice (e.g., diet, exercise, or stress management).
Administer vaccinations (such as flu shots) and perform basic health screenings (e.g., blood pressure, cholesterol, or blood sugar).
Compound customized medications when needed.
Skills and Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.), Strong analytical and attention-to-detail skills (to catch errors and interactions).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (for patient counseling and collaboration).
Knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, and healthcare regulations.
Organizational and managerial abilities (especially for supervising staff or running a pharmacy).
Empathy, ethics, and the ability to work under pressure in busy environments.
