Safely operate excavators of varying sizes (mini, standard, long-reach) to perform excavation, trenching, grading, loading trucks, backfilling, and site cleanup.
Read and interpret site plans, stakes, grade marks, and survey data to meet grade and alignment requirements.
Position and stabilize machine, set up attachments (buckets, thumbs, hydraulic breakers, augers), and perform required attachment changes.
Dig trenches for utilities, foundations, and drainage; load/dump materials; place bedding/structural fill per specifications.
Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections: fluid levels, tracks/treads, pins/bushings, hydraulic hoses, lights/safety devices; report defects.
Perform basic preventative maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, topping off fluids); coordinate repairs with mechanics.
Follow site safety plans, traffic-control procedures, and environmental controls (erosion, runoff, dust).
