Heavy Equipment Operator

Job summary

Operate heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, rollers, cranes, haul trucks) safely and efficiently.
Read/interprete blueprints, grade stakes, and site plans to perform assigned tasks to required specifications.
Perform pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections; report defects and perform basic service (fluid checks, lubrication).
Conduct routine maintenance and coordinate repairs with mechanics; replace filters, grease fittings, and minor parts when qualified.
Position, secure, and transport equipment to and from job sites; assist with loading/unloading.
Follow site-specific safety procedures, traffic control, and flagging; use PPE and maintain clean work area.
Communicate with foremen, spotters, surveyors, and other crew members to coordinate work and prevent hazards.

Required qualifications & skills

High school diploma or equivalent, Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination.
Ability to follow instructions, read plans, and use basic surveying tools.
Good communication and teamwork; able to take direction from a foreman/supervisor.
Reliability, punctuality, and ability to work outdoors in varying weather.
