Core responsibilities:
Develop and document electrical designs, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bill-of-materials.
Perform calculations (power, load, signal integrity, thermal) and simulations (SPICE, FEM, PCB signal simulations).
Specify and select components (semiconductors, passive parts, connectors, motors, sensors).
Prototype, test, and validate circuits and systems in the lab; debug failures and iterate designs.
Create and review PCB layouts with manufacturability and EMC in mind; coordinate with mechanical and firmware teams.
Write test plans, perform validation/verification, and produce test reports.
Typical qualifications & skills
Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or closely related field, Circuit design: analog (op-amp, filters, power), digital (logic, microcontrollers, FPGAs).
Power electronics: converters, regulators, motor drives (if applicable).
PCB design tools: Altium, KiCad, OrCAD, Eagle, Mentor.
Simulation: SPICE (LTspice, PSpice), MATLAB/Simulink.
Embedded basics: microcontrollers (ARM, AVR), peripherals, basic firmware collaboration.
Test & measurement: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, spectrum analyzers.
