Crane Operator

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Conducting thorough pre-operation and post-operation inspections of the crane, including hydraulics, cables/wire ropes, hooks, brakes, outriggers, controls, and safety devices; performing minor maintenance or reporting issues.
Reviewing lift plans, load charts, blueprints, and site conditions; calculating/verifying load weights, radii, boom angles, and capacities to avoid overloads.
Setting up the crane (e.g., positioning, deploying outriggers or crawlers on stable pads) and securing loads with proper rigging.
Operating controls (levers, pedals, dials) to hoist, swing, lower, and precisely place loads, often guided by radio or hand signals from ground crew/riggers/signal persons.
