Key Duties and Responsibilities

Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, welding symbols, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
Calculating dimensions, measuring parts, and preparing materials (cutting, grinding, beveling, cleaning joints of rust/scale/contamination).
Setting up and operating welding equipment (adjusting amperage, voltage, travel speed, gas flow, etc.).

Monitoring the process, controlling heat to avoid distortion or defects, and making multi-pass welds when needed.
Inspecting completed work for defects (cracks, porosity, incomplete fusion) using visual checks, gauges, or other methods; ensuring conformance to specifications.
